Ann's Bio

 

Journalist

Ann’s reporting career began at the Montreal Gazette, where she covered business stories. She then spent 10 years as national correspondent with the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business in Montreal and Vancouver. More recently, she helped senior editors at CanWest News Service in Winnipeg prepare stories for the national newspaper chain. Ann has also provided business commentary for CBC radio and TV, and was a business panelist on Peter Gzowski’s Morningside. She has reported from Europe, Japan and Africa.

Public Relations Specialist

Ann worked at NATIONAL Public Relations as a senior account manager in Vancouver, providing strategic and crisis counsel, issues management, writing services and media relations. Clients included BC Rail, ICBC, BC Lottery Corp., Slocan Corp., PriceWaterhouse Coopers and the BC Lumber Trade Council.

Author

Ann co-authored a best-selling book, Steinberg: The Breakup of a Family Empire (MacMillan, 1990), chronicling the history of the Steinberg grocery giant. It won the National Business Book Award. She also contributed to a management book, Everything I needed to know about business…I learned from a Canadian! (Wiley & Sons, Leonard J. Brody and David Raffa, May 2005).

Ann holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa. She speaks English and French.

Ann volunteers for Potluck Café and Catering, a charitable organization that funds employment training and meal programs for the neediest residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
